Training Contract with Newcastle City Council Early Years - 2009
New training contract with Newcastle-upon-Tyne City Council to provide their professionals with training on policy writing and record keeping for Early Years and childcare settings. Such training is vital, especially in the current climate of high-profile failures.
The training will address the necessity of drawing together the legal requirements with practical measures to ensure that the law to protect children is put into practice effectively. Techniques to judge the quality of childcare currently provided will be taught alongside developing new methods of assessment of the individual setting and case. The emphasis will be on recording and sharing information to achieve the best outcome for the child, as well as understanding the wider context of Every Child Matters and the agenda for Children’s Services. Practitioners will have a greater awareness of the uses of records to safeguard children, and best practice in observation, evidence and evaluation. They will be equipped with the tools to continue to develop their skills and services individually and as an organization.
